Note on Marriage

Noted from Nidderdale Museum at Pateley Bridge reference V7304.11 - the surname being LANCASTER, together with the full LOFTUS family tree. Also a list of LANCASTERs at ref. V.7304-8a. At ref B6118 is the baptism of dau. Mary in 1790 from a transcript of Middlesmoor Parish Register. Nidderdale Museum reference B5868-33 page143 records that in 1824 Mary & John Longster of Wath were donors to the founding of the Methodist Misionary Society. 1851 Census for Bishopside at Yeadon. Christopher was unmarried and had 3 servants.

We have found a Christening for a John Lancaster of Covialhouse in 1761, father William Lancaster, and are confident he is your John Longster. Chris actually stayed at a Guesthouse called Covill House/Barn.

Note on Wife: Mary LOFTUS

This Mary Loftus MAY be related to a grave at Ramsgill Church: "To the memory of William Loftus son of John and Margaret Loftus of Ramsgill who died at Redcar August 10th 1843 aged 10 years also of Elizabeth daughter of William and Margaret Loftus of Ramsgill who departed this life November 17th 1844 aged 31 years also of Mary Loftus who departed this life May 26th 1850 aged 68 years also the above named William Loftus who departed this life March 6th 1854 aged 79 years". Note that microfiche for grave no. 47 states Mary not Margaret throughout.
